Barnrise is made by Yellow8 Studios LLC, a Texas limited liability company ("Yellow8 Studios," "we," "us," "our"). This policy explains what Barnrise does and does not do with information when you use the Barnrise app for Android.
Barnrise has no accounts, no sign-in, and no servers of our own. We do not collect your personal information, and nothing you enter in Barnrise is sent to us.
Your alarms, your farm, your pets' names, your reminders, and your progress are stored only on your own phone. We cannot see them, and we have no way to retrieve them. There are no ads in Barnrise, and we run no analytics or tracking of our own — we receive nothing about how you use the app. Two Google components inside Barnrise do send Google technical diagnostics about their own performance; that is described in Section 6.
The only outside company involved is Google, and only in two narrow ways: Google Play handles purchases of Barnrise Plus, and Google's on-device ML Kit software powers two of the optional wake-up tasks. Both are described below.
Barnrise saves the following on your phone, using Android's standard app-storage system. It stays on the device, in Barnrise's private storage area, and is not transmitted anywhere:
You can erase all of it at any time by clearing Barnrise's storage in Android Settings (Settings → Apps → Barnrise → Storage → Clear data) or by uninstalling the app. Because none of it is on our servers, that erases it completely as far as we are concerned. Uninstalling does not cancel a subscription — see Section 5.
Two optional wake-up tasks use your camera:
Pictures and camera frames are processed entirely on your device, by Google's ML Kit software running locally with a model that ships inside the app. No photo, video frame, or recognition result is ever uploaded to us, to Google, or to anyone else. Google states, in its ML Kit terms, that "processing of the input data (e.g. images, video, text) fully happens on-device, and ML Kit does not send that data and the resultant outputs to Google servers" (https://developers.google.com/ml-kit/terms).
The single photo taken by the photo task is written to Barnrise's private storage area on your phone, where no other app can read it. It is not added to your photo gallery, not backed up by us, and is removed along with everything else when you clear Barnrise's storage or uninstall the app.
You can use Barnrise without the camera at all: the camera tasks are optional, and the free math task requires no camera permission.
If you turn on the run task, Barnrise reads your phone's step counter (Android's activity recognition permission) and its motion sensors, so it can tell that you actually got up and moved. These readings are used live, on the device, to decide whether the task is complete. They are not stored after the task ends and are never transmitted.
Barnrise Plus is sold, billed, and canceled through Google Play. Google is the merchant of record.
Two Google components inside Barnrise report technical information back to Google about how they are performing. We do not receive this information and it does not identify you to us:
Google's published description of this data includes the device's manufacturer, model and operating system version, Barnrise's package name and version, an identifier for this installation of the app that Google states is not intended to identify you or your device, timing measurements, error codes, and the size of the images processed — not their content. Google states this data is encrypted in transit and is not shared with third parties.
Google may also collect crash and installation information through the Google Play Store itself, as it does for every Android app. That is governed by Google's own policies.
To be explicit, because these are the questions people usually ask:
Barnrise is a general-audience alarm clock. It is not directed to children under 13, and Barnrise does not collect personal information from anyone, of any age. Because there is no account, no sign-in, and no data transmission, there is nothing for us to knowingly collect from a child.

Privacy laws including the EU and UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended (CCPA/CPRA) give people rights to access, correct, delete, and port personal information a company holds about them, and to object to or restrict its processing.
We do not hold personal information about you, so in practice there is nothing for us to retrieve, correct, or delete on your behalf. You already have direct and complete control: clearing Barnrise's storage or uninstalling the app erases everything the app has saved.
Two things sit outside our reach and are worth knowing:
If you believe we hold information about you and want to exercise a right, write to [email protected] and we will respond. EU/UK users also have the right to complain to their local data protection authority.
We retain nothing, because we receive nothing. Data saved by the app on your device is retained until you clear it or uninstall Barnrise.
We may update this policy. When we do, we will change the "Last updated" date at the top. If a change is material — for example, if a future version of Barnrise added accounts, a server, or analytics — we will say so clearly in the app before that version collects anything.
